As June arrives and schools may be letting out don’t stop the learning. Engaged in learning activities helps us grow our imagination and our creativity. Learning and creativity are intrinsically linked. Innovation and new discoveries are made when we ignite our creative processes leading to increased sense of wellbeing and confidence.
How do we create more creativity for ourselves?? Here are a few ideas to foster more creativity:
- make a commitment to yourself to engage in a creative activity each day. Schedule time each day to make or listen to music, dance, create or appreciate others art, or make crafts. Setting aside as little as five minutes a day can help build your creative muscle. A disciplined approach to a daily practise will go a long way to making you more creative.
- stay curious to foster your creativity. A creative mindset is one that seeks to explore, grow and discover new ways to keep our imagination flowing.
- stay clear of judgement of whatever you create. Creativity is about the process and not the quality of the end product. Creating more creativity is about non-judging the output but being focused and getting immersed in the creation process itself.
To build more creativity find a creative outlet that you enjoy and make it a daily practise. Make time to write, sing, make music, draw, take photos, knit, do watercolour or acrylic painting. Stay in wonder and experiment with a new activity you haven’t tried before.
At Joshua Creek Heritage Arts Centre we have creative learning programming for everyone!
