JCHAC holds Art & Nature programming for kids and families, year-round. Our mission is to connect children and families to art, nature, themselves, and each other. Our programs foster compassion, curiosity, and trust with the art and the natural world by giving participants space and time to foster both. In a time where people look at a screen more often in a day than the birds and plants in their backyards, we believe it is crucial to unplug kids and parents from technology and reconnect with the earth.
Studies show that time spent in nature and community increases attention span, self-esteem, ability to concentrate, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Children who participate in cooperative group activities also have healthier relationships with friends and family.
Our vision is to support children to develop an appreciation for each other, art, and the natural world so that they grow into dedicated leaders, loving community members, and environmental stewards. Our programs include exploring outdoors, outdoor living skills & crafts, animal tracking, nature & sensory awareness, storytelling, plant and animal study, mentorship, empowerment, and lots of fun and play!
