About Your Instructor

Hind Kassem, a Lebanese Canadian, possesses over fifteen years of expertise within not-for-profit organizations, serving as a social worker dedicated to assisting children and their families in local communities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the Lebanese University in 1995.

Relocating to Kuwait in 2000 with her family, Hind embarked on a teaching career at the American International School (AIS). Eventually settling in Canada in 2009, she founded the Ajyaluna Centre for Education. The Centre’s primary objective was to nurture the educational advancement of diverse children while preserving language heritage within the community.

Driven by a passion for community engagement and impactful initiatives, Hind commenced her tenure at the Centre for Skills Development in 2013 as a settlement worker. Over the years, she transitioned into the role of Newcomer Community Connections Specialist, leveraging her extensive experience of over nine years in aiding newcomers. This tenure has endowed her with a profound understanding of the myriad challenges faced by newcomers in their settlement and integration processes.

Central to Hind’s role is her commitment to resourcefulness and assistance, manifested through the facilitation and implementation of multifaceted social programs for clients. Her active involvement in numerous social and settlement projects across Halton Region and its environs underscores her dedication. Notable contributions include her facilitation of programs like the Nobody’s Perfect Parent and New Horizons for Seniors, as well as her presentation at the 2021 TESL Ontario conference on Cultural Intelligence.

As an immigrant herself, Hind empathetically comprehends the daily hurdles confronting newcomers in their journey towards establishing a new life in Canada. Her profound empathy and expertise position her as a valuable advocate for newcomers navigating the complexities of resettlement.
