Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre in Partnership with Modern Arts Studio presents

Creative Expression: Ages 9 - 12

Mondays at 4:00PM - 5:00PM

September 12th - November 7th

Join us for this unique and fun theatre program for 9-12 year olds. Students will explore different themes through acting exercises and games. We will boost confidence and focus, working in teams and groups for the first time post pandemic to create original work.

Students will learn and build on skills in improvisation, physical comedy. We will work on an original project to present at our end of term show based on a play, develop solo and group performance, through expression, articulation and communication!

About Modern Arts Studio

Modern Arts Studio focuses on skill and confidence building, alongside opportunities to perform or compete and conferences. Students learn through games, exercises, movement and script work, how to develop character and understand different genres of acting, comedy and physical comedy.

Modern Arts Studio dabbles in Shakespeare for youth, dance theatre and other interesting art forms. Students practice collaboration and teamwork, how to develop a personal style and overall performance skills.

About Your Instructor

Elizabeth Pulton creative director and owner of Modern Arts Studio, is an experienced Producer, Artistic Programmer, and Director of Youth Theatre and the performing Arts in Oakville and the GTA for the past 18 years.

Elizabeth has owned and operated her own studios in Oakville for well over a decade and also in Vancouver and worked with large arts organizations like the Canadian Opera Company and the Living Arts Centre, in addition to the Sound of Music Festival and the Burlington Central Library, in arts education and outreach.

Her new studio Modern Arts, is a passion project that she hopes will evolve into something as special as her last successful endeavour. Elizabeth believes that arts education is an essential part of every person’s life experience!
