This year’s theme is RENEWAL: Acknowledging our personal transformations, creating awareness of our changing landscapes, and honouring our legacies.

JURORS

SHIRLEY ERSKINE

Born and raised in Quebec, Shirley Erskine started painting at a very early age and for many years was a self-taught artist. Her formal courses were at Sheridan College. She also attended the University of Toronto, Doone School of Fine Art, The Schneider School of Fine Art, The Academia des Artes, and travels throughout Canada, U.S.A., Mexico and Europe and Asia. Her extensive teaching and traveling continue to inform her work.

Her paintings are varied in a wide range of subject matter and theme. Her work hangs in many private, industrial and commercial collections in Canada, U.S.A., England, Europe, Asia, United Arab Emirates and Australia. Erksine has arranged and hung shows all over Toronto, Mississauga and Peel, and has held many private classes and workshops across Canada. In 1997 she was selected by jury as Mississauga’s Senior Visual Artist of the Year. In 2004 she was the only Canadian artist, juried worldwide, invited to participate in a symposium in Dubai.

All her shows are met with a great deal of accolades and awards. Some of her works are also included on her website: shirleyerskine.com. Erskine continues to paint or write almost daily and is presently working on her biography. She is also a published poet.
