Modern Batik is the East African expressive art of Wax, Dyes and Ink on Fabric. This unique technique opens endless possibilities for all individual artistic expressions. Modern Batik Art can be used in many different forms, for example; textile knitted fabrics, sewing unique hand made patterns onto clothing and into handbags & wallets.

 

Modern Batik can be described as:

• Naturally relaxing

• Aesthetically pleasing

• Purely expressive

• Colourfully bold

• Realistic or abstract

 

The unique artistic expression of wax and dyes on fabric can be achieved by any skill level. All you need is the willingness to learn and explore to create your beautiful original work of art.

Deon Best is a Toronto multi-medium artist nurtured in an artistic household of musical steel-pan & traditional artistic talents. Having studied Graphic Design, Digital & Traditional Art Deon Best’s portfolio covers a wide range of artistic mediums, with currently his Main-Focus being Modern Batik Art. Deon Best was trained & mentored by master Batik Instructor David Kibuuka. As an Artist & Instructor, Deon Best has taught numerous art workshops, classes & camps across the GTA & Ontario. He has also been creativity involved with several Canadian organizational projects. Utilizing his talents & influence for Charitable works and the positive empowerment of children, youth & adults through community art programs is a passion. Deon Best is always looking towards the Horizon for his next artistic inspiration, adventure & challenge!
